This morning it was foggy here. So foggy that you couldn’t see the mountains. You couldn’t see the boats sitting in the marina. We couldn’t even see the bay—everything was hidden behind a thick veil of mist. But even though we couldn’t see clearly, we knew the mountains were still there, and the boats hadn’t disappeared. The fog was temporary.
So naturally, we found a sidewalk café and sat down to enjoy a coffee and wait for the fog to clear.
As we sat there looking out over the bay, the Lord began reminding me of a prayer I had prayed the night before. I had been asking for clarity, direction, and answers. His response had felt incredibly simple… and honestly, a little frustrating.
“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10 NIV).
I remember thinking, Really, Lord? That’s all You’ve got for me?
But while I was sitting there, I noticed something happening. Slowly, almost imperceptibly, the fog began lifting. Little by little, what had been hidden started becoming visible again. First faint outlines, then shapes, then details. The bay appeared. The boats emerged. The mountains slowly came back into view.
And in that moment, I felt the Lord whisper to my heart:
“Pam, it’s just like that. Some days you cannot see clearly. The answers seem hidden. The future feels uncertain. The way forward looks cloudy. But if you wait—if you trust Me—the fog lifts, and what you need to see will be revealed in time.”
Later, as I was sharing this with my husband, he gently reminded me of something else. In the waiting, there was nothing we could do to make the fog lift faster.
And honestly, that is both true… and frustrating.
Because we live in a culture that does not like waiting. Everything around us tells us to move faster, achieve faster, and receive faster. We want immediate answers, instant solutions, and clear direction right away.
But God’s Kingdom often works differently.
The Kingdom is built on trust.
On surrender.
On timing.
On dependence.
And sometimes God allows the fog to sit there for a while—not to frustrate us, but to teach us to trust Him even when we cannot yet see clearly.
Scripture reminds us of this truth in 1 Corinthians 13:12: “For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face…” (KJV).
There are moments in our walk with God where we simply do not see everything clearly yet. Not because God is absent, not because He is withholding goodness from us, but because clarity often comes progressively. Faith grows in the waiting. Trust deepens in the fog.
The beautiful thing about fog is that it never stays forever. Eventually, the light breaks through.
And so it is with God.
If today feels uncertain, if your prayers seem unanswered, if the way forward feels hidden:
Stay still.
Stay faithful.
Keep trusting.
The fog will lift.
Father, when the way ahead feels shrouded in uncertainty and life seems foggy, help me to trust You in the waiting. Teach me to be still and rest in the knowledge that You are already working, even when I cannot yet see it. Let Your peace quiet my anxious heart and let Your light gently lift the fog in Your perfect time. Amen.

So good. And He is our strength and our shield. Psalm 91, Psalm 5.
Amen! I love the beauty and practicality of such a revelation! 🥹🥹🙌🙌
